2023 started off with a bang! What an incredible bunch of heavy music releases we already have on our hands this year. Here are ten of my very favorite albums from the first three months of the year.

10. WyndRider

WyndRider doles out heavy stoner doom groove, crushing riffs, and spellbinding vocals on their debut self-titled release. An excellent release from a band who played their first ever show just over a year ago.

09. Thieves and Liars

Doomed heavy metal with pockets of psychedelic groove and scorching guitar solos.

08. Mystic Vulture

Ville Marie, QC, Canada

The vocals are growly, violins set the tone throughout, organs weave in and out, and theres a dark, dense, bluesy groove to this heavy psychedelic outing from Quebec’s Cleõphüzz.

07. Solace

Chicago, IL, USA

REZN’s fourth studio album, Solace is a journey through dynamic soundscapes that gradually build and morph from gloomy and serene to thundering riffs.

Hail the Void

Victoria, BC, Canada

Hail the Void has created a stunning stoner metal masterpiece on their sophomore release, Memento Mori.

If you like being enveloped in psychedelic blues, soulful vocals, a bit of organ, and spacey guitar solos, this one from multi-instrumentalist Craig Williamson is for you!

The debut album under the WESTING name (Formerly Slow Season) is loaded with nods to heavy 70s blues swagger and groove, and buoyed by Ben McCloud’s (All Them Witches) distinctive guitar work. Zeppelin heads, get on this one!
