Here we are, through April already, with another haul of superb heavy music from around the world. This month’s list is topped by an absolutely spellbinding offering from Australia’s Robot God (ahem, serious AOTY contender!), with its perfectly balanced blend of heavy and progressive psych. Doom metal legends High On Fire sound as tight, inspired, and furious as ever on their latest chapter of apocalyptic metal. Detroit’s Temple of the Fuzz Witch ascend to new heights with their latest, replacing fuzzy, stoner haze with a new dynamic identity of sharp, raw intensity.
If bluesy heavy psych is more your vibe, you have to dig into the latest from The Lunar Effect. Australia really came in strong this month, including Magic Machine’s Castle in the Sky, a must-listen for fans of KGLW and OSees.
Do I even need to tell you how hard this new Acid Mammoth hits?
Looking for doom with female vocals? Haunted and Heavy Temple have you covered.
Rounding out the top ten this month is a couple of fantastic debut albums from Australian proto doomsters Iron Blanket and progressive psychedelic outfit Guenna out of Sweden.
So here they are, the top ten albums I submitted to the monthly Doom Charts for the month of April.
Thank you to all of these artists for making and sharing music!
