Italian stoner doom trio King Potenaz draw inspiration from a range of heavy music. Their 2023 debut album Goat Rider hits hard, and showcases those influences within their own unique sound. Here are a few of their most inspiraitonal albums.
Blues for the Red Sun
Kyuss
The album that invented a genre… desert rock… the real stoner… the one made of dusty, magmatic and hypnotic riffs as only Kyuss could do and no one else has subsequently managed to recreate that psychedelic magic.
Come My Fanatics…
Electric Wizard
Come My Fanatics if we talk about Electric Wizard it’s very difficult to choose one album that’s better than the other… we chose this one simply because it’s the first album of theirs that we bought… occult doom itself… to listen to from start to finish without stopping getting lost in the meanders of its riffs as heavy as boulders… essential
Sleep’s Holy Mountain
Sleep
A unique album, an absolute masterpiece… a sound recognizable from light years away… that bass and those riffs… what a trip!!! perhaps it is the album that inspired us the most when composing our Goat Rider!
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Black Sabbath
The masters of the genre could not be missing… the ones without whom we all wouldn’t be here… we chose SBS because for us it is the most complete Sabbath album… it has everything, doom, rock, metal and a progressive edge… for an album from ‘73 it was incredibly ahead of its time… and then there’s the title track which is one of our favorite songs ever
Superjudge
Monster Magnet
The evolution of the stoner… fresh, fun and psychedelic at the right point… a real novelty for the years in which it was released… another great source of inspiration. a must have!
